Curriculum for 2018/2019

This year has been a GREAT year! It is our 2nd year using The Good and the Beautiful and it has been our best choice in curriculum ever! My kids enjoy it…and I enjoy it! It takes no prep time and the stories are all beautiful and kind. I am kinda obsessed with Jenny Phillips and her ideas and her passion to help us homeschooling moms do the best we can and enjoy it too! I love her.

For Math, Typing, Handwriting – we have also stayed the same as last year because we enjoy the programs.

We stayed members of My Tech High this year (2nd year). It is a little pain to do the weekly emails (but really it is only 5 minutes max). Also, the classes the kids have taken from MTH they have all gotten sick of them by the end of the year and it is like pulling teeth to keep them doing the assignments. In fact, this year….we have kinda quit. They all have passing grades, but I don’t think that they could do another assignment (Trynitee’s drone also broke). But it has been great because we get money to buy things that otherwise we wouldn’t be able to. They also pay for any of the curriculum we use that is non-denominational. So everything except The Good and the Beautiful – but I would pay for that no matter the cost! (We love it that much.)

Also, our saving grace in homeschooling is our co-op!! We love, love, love the people we share our co-op with. There are 10 families and we all stick together each year unless one of us has to leave for some reason, then we find another family to join our group. This is our 3rd year with the same group and the kids love our Tuesday co-op day the best! It gives them the friend time that they love. It is a lot of prep work for me because each mom has to be in charge of teaching a class – but that’s another thing that I love, my kids learn from other moms and many times they are subjects that I am not teaching at home. So really it lightens my load! We all feel so lucky to have such a great group.

Who knew a girl raised in the city on fruit loops and main stream education...would grow up to be a country girl who loves everything pioneer, homeschools her 3 littles, and has morphed into a crazy chicken lady. Welcome to My Unlikely Life! Here you will see everything from raising my beloved chickens, being a mom and homeschooling my kids, and living in the country. I love everything about it...and I hope you do too!
