Drying Herbs

This year I was able to grow LOTS of herbs.  It was the best!  I had a monster parsley plant, basil and cilantro.  I used most of my basil — didn’t eat much cilantro (I mostly just grew it to see if I could…and I can!) — I also didn’t use much parsley and still have a huge bush of parsley left.  I decided that I should not let that goodness go to waste.  So I broke out my dehydrator and dried some for the winter months.  How great is that?!?

Put the cleaned herbs on the trays and turn the machine on…

And wait, and wait…

Done!  Nice and crispy.  Took about 12-14 hours (I lost track of time).  I put the dried herbs in little bags and now I have some herbs for soups this winter 🙂

The rest of the parsley plant is going to the chicks…those girls love everything (except cottage cheese).
