Fall = Beauty, No Eggs, Leaves!

Fall is my second favorite season…(Spring is my 1st, if you were wondering)…but boy do I look forward to Fall!  I love the smells, the Ah-mazing fall colors, the crisp air, wearing jackets and layers, AND especially not having to mow the lawn anymore!  So many valid reasons!

These colors are almost the colors of the rainbow!

Oh, hey chicken coop!  So fall also means that not much is going on in the chicken coop….I mean I am not collecting many eggs lately!  Dang!  This time of year the chickens are loosing lots of feathers (molting) and they are taking a break from laying eggs.  I MAY get one egg every other day.  Not much, but I tell the girls to take their time…we all need a break from work.  I’d rather them be healthy and let nature take its course!img_1179

In the meantime while the girls are taking their vacation…I have lots and lots of leaves to start cleaning up.  This is not a chore that I love…but I do love that mixing leaves with chicken poop (two products that I have LOTS of) will naturally make perfect compost to put into my garden boxes.   Another reason I love my chickens <3

Welcome to My Unlikely Life! Here you will see everything from raising my beloved chickens, being a mom and homeschooling my kids, and living in the country. I love everything about it...and I hope you do too!
