We are really focusing on doing a field trip every Friday. With our school schedule being only a 4 day a week schedule…sometimes it is hard, but we have a great home-school community that plans field trips on most Fridays. So we are able to join in when we can!
A couple Fridays ago we were able to go to the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah. I have wanted to take my kids there forever…but having another person actually arrange to go as a group helped me to commit! The gallery was full of Sibylle Redford’s paintings/prints. Most of her prints are done with rainfall. They were very cool…and something that made me think “I could do this”. My kids could probably do this too!
After we learned about the artist and looked at her work, we were able to go and the kids went outside and found some items from nature and put them on a “sun paper”. You put the items on the paper in the sun for 3 minutes and then take the paper inside and put it in water then it dries and shows the things that you picked out. It was a fun day for the kids. They have some other fun field trips coming up…so more posts coming soon!
