As you can kinda tell I love how people lived from the past…I love to study pioneers, history, past forms of gardening, natural medicines, raising food, being self-sustaining and most of all being prepared!
One way that takes me back to the past is our yearly trip to the mountain man rendezvous. I have been going to rendezvous since I was 8 years old. I LOVED them when I was little…not so much when I was a teenager…and now it is our favorite family vacation every year. My kids count down the days til Labor Day weekend…and really so do I!
The rendezvous we go to is Ft. Bridger rendezvous in Wyoming. It is supposed to mimic the fur trade era from 1825-1840. The lodging, cooking, selling, etc. is all supposed to take you back to what that time would have been like. It obviously can’t be 100%…with having port-a-potties and all…but it takes me back to when there were NO cell phones, NO TV’s, my kids play in the dirt with rocks and sticks (and LOVE it), simpler times that make my heart happy. I love this week and the family time we get to have pretending we were from the past.
