Seedlings

I’ve never started seeds for my garden before.  I know they are picky and can die easily, so it is easier to just buy the plant.  But this year I am trying to really immerse myself in gardening from the start to the end (plus they are Way cheaper!).  I first started a set WAAAAY too early (first thing I learned…they grow fast!)…so they had to go and I started another set.  These new ones are getting really big..but I only have about 2 weeks before I can plant them.

Here is what I did:

I got one of those Jiffy little “greenhouse” trays.  They have 72 little things of soil.  I filled it full of water and let the soil expand.  Then I put in my seeds and marked each row what they were (very important step to NOT forget!).  After a couple days and after all of the seeds sprouted I took the lid off.  I water every couple of days and they are growing like crazy!!!  Once they got pretty big, I transferred them into these bigger containers so they could have room to expand.

Now I am at the step of hardening the plants.  I am going to take them outside in the shade for a couple days.  Then I will gradually expose them to direct sunlight.  Then I will put them in my garden!
